The vast majority of what I read is what I can get for free on my Kindle app through the Louisville public library. Do other cities have a service like this??? It's freakin awesome. You can borrow up to three books at a time and after two weeks the books just expire. It is 100% free and there are no trips to the library to return books and zero chance of late fees! Loves it.
So, with all of that said, here are some of the things I've read this year. Maybe you will find a new book that you'd like to read and hopefully I'll get a few recommendations from you of what I should read next!!

| Star Island by Carl Hiaasen - This book was recommended to me on my library's website, based on the other crap I've read. Haha! It was fine, a good mindless read about paparazzi adventures, jet set travel and problems and a spoiled young pop star. |

| The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas - Did you know that you can read classics on your Kindle, etc., for free??? This book is OMG amazing. Okay, let me just be honest about the beginning, it is SLOW. It definitely took some perseverance to get past maybe the first 1/3 of the book but, hey, I've read War and Peace, I can do this! ;) Once you really get into this book, it's freakin fantastic. Revenge, adventure, exotic travel. It's perfect. |

| Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James - This trilogy is one of the few things on a MAJOR waitlist at our library so, when my name came up, I grabbed it and read it. I was kind of late to the party and had such HIGH expectations of scandal and... eh... it was okay. I felt like I needed to read it for pop culture's sake, but it wasn't the most wonderful (or erotic, or offensive/scandalous, or or or) book that I've ever read. When my turn comes up in about 3 years to read the second one, I'll read it, too! ;) |

| How to Talk to a Widower by Jonathan Tropper - This is another random book found while surfing the library website. It gets pretty good reviews and everyone talks about how ridiculously hilarious it is. Um... it wasn't for me. I found the depressed widower trying to return to a pathetic dating scene more... depressing... than funny. Guess I missed the point. |

| The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella - I think I've read all of her books and they are consistently well written and entertaining. This one is no exception and covers a topic that I'm sure we've all thought about at some point in time - what if I just walk away from it all and start completely over??? A fun escapism read. Love some good fluff! ;) |

| Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger - OMG, I was SO excited when this book came out. Like so many other fashion fanatics, I was crazy about Devil Wears Prada and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the sequel. It is, in a word, a disappointment. Sooooo much time spent on relationships and whining and so little time spent on the "revenge" that I was expecting. So little snarkiness, so little fashion, basically no fun. Major fail. |

| A Fitting End by Melissa Bourbon - A random book recommended by my library, so, sure, I'll read it! This is "a dressmaker's mystery," which combines murder mystery with a smidge of fashion. It's set in a small town in Texas and, as a born and bred Arkansas girl, I love reading about some southern shenanigans! |

| Unbearable Lightness by Portia de Rossi - Okay, if you take one recommendation from this post, this is it. This book is phenomenal. I have always been a fan of hers and absolutely could not put this book down. It is shockingly honest and brutal and open about her life in general and her battle with anorexia specifically. Seriously. It is a must read. |

| A Charmed Death and Hex Marks the Spot by Madelyn Alt - These were recommended by my library after I read A Fitting End and, they are kind of the same thing. Girly murder mysteries with small town antics, these are sprinkled with a bit of magic. Mindless and enjoyable! |
Well, looking back at this list for the first half of the year, it definitely is slanting a bit towards chic lit. I need some more classics, stat. LOL! Do you see anything here that you'd like to read? Have you read anything fantastic lately??
