KlutchClub August Men's Box Review

Again with this weird shipping... this is the KlutchClub "August" box but I didn't receive it until September 7th. It didn't even SHIP until 8/31, so it's not even trying to get here on time... *sigh* maybe I'm the only one bugged by this month after month! LOL!

KlutchClub offers monthly subscription boxes geared towards men, women or moms for the price of $18/month/box (or a little less with longer commitment). The boxes include $50+ of healthy snacks, fitness programs, personal-care items, supplements, etc. We get the men's box because this is right up the hub's alley! I've been a little frustrated with the low value of these boxes and had already decided I was canceling after this month if I was again underwhelmed.... Let's see how it turned out!

Definitely nice and full compared to last couple of months! Excited to see what all is included!

And the breakdown:

* Shower Pill Body Wipe, $1.50 - I know it's a crazy idea but why not just TAKE a shower?? LOL J/k, I'm sure it will get used! We love wet wipes and welcome all kinds!

* Penta Water, $2 

* Oasis Crunch Dried Fruit, $3.50 - Not on info card? Wonder if it was thrown in as an afterthought? Oh well! We love snacks!

* Boulder Rice & Bean Chips, $1.50

* Ziggy Marley Organics Coco'Mon Coconut Oil, original and lemon ginger, $1 each - Hubs loves coconut oil and we love Jamaica and some Marley family! We named our precious first dog Marley! These are a win! LOL!

* Hangover Sucks Remedy, $4 - I've already thrown these on the initial pile to pack for LA next week! I figure they can't hurt! Haha!

* Towel Dry Men Hair Product, $3 -  Hubs will get to it eventually!

* Hawaiian OLA Noni Immunity Shot, $3

* Puracyn Wound and Skin Care, $3 - We get tons of boo boos around here and always use first aid supplies. The box also came with a card with info to get a free full-size bottle of the stuff by visiting testimonials@innovacyn.com and doing a testimonial. It looks like the 8 oz bottle goes for something like $28 on Amazon (?!?) but I got a weird error warning message about a phishing site when I tried to fill out the form... So, fail. Not pursuing it, not counting the free bottle in the box value.

* Other Offers - (1) There's a $10 off of $40 at hawaiiannola.com with code MAHALOKCLUB. Not counting it in box value since you have to spend $30 to redeem. (2) There's also a free week of recipes from Prep Dish. Go to prepdish.com/shop, put the August plan in your cart and use coupon code KLUTCH to get it for free. This website normally charges $25 for a week of meal planning... which I would NEVER buy (can't you find any recipe for free online???) but at least it didn't cost anything to redeem the offer! 

So I came up with a total value of $48.50 for the August box, including the full Prep Dish $25 value. It's definitely close to the promised $50 but, again this month, if you don't like one specific thing (the Prep Dish offer in this box), the value of the box is WAY off the mark. 

We've gotten some things from KlutchClub that we have enjoyed, but I think it's time for me to move on and try something new! From time to time they offer good discount codes and they just might get me back at some point with one of those!

PopChips Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips, $1

Puritan's Pride Raspberry Ketones, $1.50. It looks like MSRP on these might be more like $4.75 but a bottle of 60 is going for $3 on Amazon... and reviewed poorly. Yay. You can use code KLUTCHCLUB for free shipping on $25+ on puritan.com if these products are something you're into! 

Nawgan Alertness Beverage, $2. Hubs drank this same day. Never too alert! ;)

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil, $2. Wtf is this? LOL

Wow. So the value of the goods in this box was only $15.07... Yikes.


There were also a couple of discount cards. One for a free Light Band at Rubberbanditz.com ($7 value, have to pay $3 shipping, so actually $4 value). A second card offered $25 off a pair of sunglasses at wavesgear.com. This also requires paying shipping ($4.50) so the actual value is $20.50. I personally don't like to include in the value of a box things that you have to spend money to redeem but even counting these didn't save this box. Even with the additional $24.50 "value" of offers, the box is still worth less than $40, not $50+ as promised.


What did you think of KlutchClub this month? I saw other boxes that were packed full of stuff, including half a dozen Flavrz packets. Is this just my crappy streak of box luck continuing?? LOL

I wasn't over the top thrilled with the June box either. We were happy with May's box but it was still short of the $50+ value. I'm giving KlutchClub one more month and, if August doesn't wow me, probably moving on!

So this box was a little weird for me.... The value is technically there, $85.80 (without the coupon), but most of that value ($60) is in the online yoga classes and what looks like meditation music. If those aren't something you are interested in, well.... it's pretty far off the $50 value promised. It's still mostly a hit for us, though, so I'll be sticking around!

KlutchClub - May Men's Box Review

So.... Idk what it is about Klutchclub, and the fact that they charge you for a month and call a box that month's box, but you don't actually receive it until the NEXT month. This is the "May'" box, that I paid for in May, and received June 7.... Whatevs. They are awesome enough that they can get away with it! Haha!

KlutchClub offers subscription boxes for Men, Women and Moms. The boxes cost $18/month (or less with longer commitment) and contain "$50 of the best healthy snacks, supplements, fitness programs, personal-care products and more." I subscribed to the Men's box because this sounded right up Hub's alley!

I love a first look that shows a box FULL of goodies!! Let's get to a breakdown!

Kind bar ($2) - I'd like for the girls to try it. Will have to get to it before the hubs does (I'm probably not that quick! Haha!)!

Aubrey aftershave ($2) - Meh. Won't get used in my house, would gift it but the seal was kind of screwed up where it had just started to leak, so will prob give it to my dad. 

$20 gift card to theClymb.com - Let's talk about this gift card for a minute. This is a website that runs sample/flash sales related to health and fitness. I had never heard of it before and felt my pulse quickening when I saw that they also offer discounted adventure trips!! I saw one for Costa Rica, which is the front runner right now for spring break 2014, and I was hoping to see one for Antarctica, which I am kind of obsessed with right now because it's the only continent we haven't been to! $20 wasn't going to help much with a trip, though! Lol!

You have to spend $75 on theClymb.com to get free shipping, otherwise shipping is $7.95. Okay... but the bonus was that my card actually put $25 in my account, so it kind of brought shipping down to $2.95. I ordered a discounted pack of Muscle Milk protein bars that retail for $42 (what?!). They are still $29 even on GNC.com with member pricing and all I had to pay was the $7.95 shipping fee! So, with just this card I  saved $21 on something I would have bought anyway, and that more than paid for the box! Nice!

CocoaVia supplement (ten pack/$10), chocolate daily to help circulation? I'll give it a shot!

Pop Potato Chips ($1) - sure, anything edible disappears around here.

Drink Chia! ($5) - I had seen pictures of this online and was still surprised at HOW MANY SEEDS are in it. Is it going to be super weird to drink?? It's in the fridge chillin right now! We shall see! And it's pretty expensive for an 8 oz bottle! I'm expecting a SUPER charge from this! LOL!

Agro Labs Coconut water ($3) - they actually sell this in 72 (?!) packs of these 3 oz bottles on Amazon for $155.88. Really?? That seems a WEE extreme to me. I get a lot of cheapy hydration from my 10 glasses of water a day! ;)

Happy squeeze coconut milk ($2) - it's like a juice pouch for grownups! And contains 2/3 a serving of fruit! Fun! :)

Mr. Pink drink ($2) - well, I do a daily cup of coffee but not much other caffiene on an average day. The hubs drank it, to me it tasted a little Red Bull-y. And I'm a little worried that a google search turned up pictures of Lindsay Lohan chugging it and I guess she asked for $500k to promote it! Wut? Lolz!!

The Perez Hilton take on the situation! Haha!

Counting the gift card as $21 value, I came up with a box worth $48, definitely more than I paid but just shy of the $50 claimed to be in there. I'm super happy with this box though and I KNOW the hubs will love it all! It was almost worth $18 for the chuckles I got when all these Lindsey Lohan pictures started popping up! Hahaha!
