GlossyBox + Byrdie October 2013 Box Review

So excited for my first regular Glossybox! When I heard that they were teaming up with Byrdie, the all-things-beauty branch of Who What Wear, I knew I had to go for it! Glossybox is $21/month. If you sign up for the subscription through eBates you'll save $2.75, making it only $18.25 for your first month!

I had heard so many wonderful things about the glorious packaging of this subscription and I was not disappointed!! Here's first looks:

How pretty is this?? Like a fancy present!

Seriously what it looked like when opened. So neat!

And the breakdown:

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara, $23 - This was the spoiler for the box and I was sold! I'm serious about mascara/lashes and am hoping to be wowed! The textured/snakeskin packaging is unique and fun, too!

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream, $12 - Fresh is one of those brands that always seems classy and expensive to me. Always true? Who knows, but they must have great marketing! LOL!

Balance Me Tinted Lip Salve, $16.50 - Always fun to get a full size lip gloss! It's the time of year when chapped lips start to be an issue in my house full of girls and we keep glosses stashed everywhere!

Bvlgari Eau Parfumee at the Vert, $6 - This is such a nice sized sample, it's maybe twice what these little pour/dab vials usually are? Definitely enough to really get a feel for the fragrance

Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask, $9 - This single use mask is labelled "for mature skin," which would have hurt my feelings if I didn't know that everyone got the same thing! Haha!

* Use code GLOSSY40 to save 40% and get free shipping on order of $50+ at seshaskin.com

I came up with a total value of $66+ for this box. I'm super excited about all of these products and think it was a great deal for only $18.75 (after my eBates link)! The whole presentation was nice enough that I'm definitely going to stick around and see what the next couple of months bring!

GlossyBox Special Edition Martha Stewart Box Review

I've never tried GlossyBox before but I couldn't resist when the Martha Stewart box was announced! This box was to include items picked by Martha and a one year subscription to Martha Stewart Living for a one time charge of $15 (only $12.25 after buying through eBates* and getting $2.75 cash back). The regular subscription price for the magazine is $24/year so this already seemed worth a shot!

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown:

Olay Complete Moisturizer, $10

Olay 4-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths, $7

Pantene Heat Potion Serum, $7

Travel pouch, $4

The reason it has taken me a while to do this review.... completely underwhelmed. Yeah, with the magazine subscription, the value was $52 and good for $12.25. But the products are just so basic and uninspired and are things that can be picked up anywhere. I was hoping for something unique, you know?? I find it hard to believe that Martha uses ANY of this stuff! LOL!

And the magazine subscription situation was weird. There was a subscription card that required you to either pay now or check a box to be billed. I wrote a note on it about GlossyBox and mailed it in. I'm going to be ticked if I get a bill! I'll update this post when something happens one way or the other!

* Everyone uses eBates, right??? All you do is click through their links when you shop online and you get part of your money back. They mail out checks every 3 months as long as you have a minimum amount in your account - $5 I think? OMG... I've used their completely FREE service for over a decade and and my current cash back total is OVER $3,600!!! Please use my referral links if you sign up! Thank you!!
