Love With Food October 2013 Scary Delicious Box Review

Time for October's Love With Food! This is subscription service is a way to try new foods AND give back. Boxes are $12/month (including shipping) and for each box purchased, LWF donates a meal to a child in need. The boxes have been a little hit or miss for me and, although I hate to axe a low-priced box, especially one with a charitable heart, I was kind of needing to be wowed by this one this month!

October's box is themed Scary Delicious and encourages you to "cozy up and share your box and keep one eye out for trick or treaters."

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown:

Dang Coconut Chips, $2.50 - I've never been able to stand coconut and the kids aren't crazy about it, either. Hubs will find a way to use these, I'm sure.

Happy Squeeze Fruit & Veggie Twist, $1.50 - I keep thinking the kids are going to get into these squeeze pouches. Hasn't happened yet!

Gingras Apple Cider Vinegar Pearls, $1? - WTF are these? The only website I'm seeing is in French? No clue, no idea what the price/value is. And, don't know if you can tell, but my "pearls" are pretty much busted and it's now a pouch of liquid.

Organic Hard Candies and Glee All Natural Gum, $1

Pizzelle Chocolate Waffle Crisps, $1.50 - Sure, it says chocolate on it, so the kids will eat it! ;)

Caveman Cookies, $1 -
These things are little and flat, def look like they are good for one (small) bite. Love that they are 100% all natural ingredients.

Kind bar, $.50 -
This is a little size, maybe half of a regular Kind bar. I'm hoping I can get the kids to like these for a quick, packable, easy snack. If not, hubs will knock it out.

There was also a coupon for a free Lean Cuisine entree, which runs about $1.80 at my Kroger. So I came up with a total of about $11 for this box. I don't know.... maybe I just wasn't in the mood when I opened it, but I'm feeling a little bit over this subscription at the moment. Kind of like Goodies, which was an inexpensive box but never seemed to deliver value comparable to what I had paid, I feel like LWF has gotten into a rut. I understand that part of what you are paying for is the donated meal, but I'd rather just make a direct donation to a charity, you know??

I'm going to take a break from this one for a while. I embrace their mission and have always enjoyed their packaging. I sincerely hope the future of this subscription trends in such a fantastic direction that I can't help by re-subscribe!

Love With Food September Box Review

Lots of love for Love With Food! This is a super fun way to try new foods AND give back. Boxes are $12/month (including shipping) and for each box purchased, LWF donates a meal to a child in need. They have passed the 100,000 mark for number of meals donated and are now aiming for a second 100k! Awesome!

September's box is a collaboration with chef Ming Tsai and contains only gluten free products. Interesting!

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown:

Bare Fruit Crunchy Cinnamon Apple Chips, $1.50 - We haven't had much luck with the various dried apples we've tried... hopefully these are the perfect ones!

Dip In Roasted Pepper & Artichoke Bruschetta,  $1.50 -
Love finding new and unique snacks that are individually packaged like this! I'll be packing this one for my long wait at gymnastics this week!

Yum Earth Organic Fruit Snacks, $1 - Fruit snacks have to be pretty bad for the kids to refuse to finish a pack... these fit that description. I even tried them and, OMG, they taste like cough syrup. Gross.

Cosmos Creations Cinnamon Crunch, $1.50 - These things always go fast! Hubs and the girls all like them!

Wild Garden Hummus, $1.50 - Another snack for me! Yay! I'm kind of a hummus obsessive.... They keep these stocked at the Delta lounge in the Atlanta airport and I always want to horde them when I'm in there! LOL!

Millies Savory Sipping Broth Teas in Indian Spice and Spicy Tortilla, $2 - These sound... interesting! Will be fun to try in colder weather for sure!

Organicasaurus Cheddar Cheese Baked Corn Snack, $1.50 - Dino shaped? I'm sure the girls will eat it! Haha!

Cherry Berry Raw Cookie, $1 - Um... Hubby will eat it! LOL!

All Natural Blueberry Fruit Bar, $1.50 - Hubs loved this as a quick snack!

So I came up with a total of $13 for this box. It definitely seemed a little better than the last couple of months for me and we were happy with the variety and number of items included!

If you would like to try Love With Food, that would be awesome if you'd use one of my referral links! Thank you!! :) And you can use code FBGIFT to get your first box for only $2 shipping charge! :D

June Love With Food box review

Lots of love for Love With Food!! This is a super fun way to try new foods AND give back. Boxes are $12/month (including shipping) and for each box purchased, LWF donates a meal to a child in need. This month, after the recent devastation in Oklahoma, they are donating TWO meals there for each box sold! They have recently passed the 100,000 mark for number of meals donated! Awesome!!

The theme for june's box is Summer Beach Bash. Here's first looks:

And the breakdown!

Turbana plantain chips
($1.50) - big hit! Especially with the 9 year old! I've already ordered more!!

Seaweed Love Roasted seaweed ($2) - um.... Nope. We all tried it and none of us are eating this. Hubs and I both thought it tasted like filmy, crispy sushi. We love some sushi, but not in this form! LOL! We all TRIED it though, family taste-testing is fun regardless! Haha!

Wth is this???

NOT into it! LMAO!

Flavrz organic drink mix ($1.50) - already gone! Was fun to have something different to mix into the kids water for hot summer cheer practices. We all tried this and it was fine, nothing too exciting, basically like any drink mix with the bonus of being organic!

Surf Sweets Organic fruity bears - there were only 5 bears in this package, lasted literally half a second with the girls. Guess they were good! Haha!

Smooze Coconut + mango fruit ice ($2) - in the freezer now. Looks awesome!! I didn't know about these and if they are kid-approved, I'm buying more of these for sure, too!

Soyjoy bar ($1.50) - hubs already polished it off!

Do More Bars Gluten-free pineapple coconut cereal bar ($1.50) - kind of like a grownup rice kris pie treat. Really tasty!

GoOrganic Organic hard candy - also disappeared instantly! Lol!

PUR Pomegranate mint gum ($1.50) - interesting! And always happy to have gum for my purse!

$50 gift code for nakedwines.com - I live in the heart of bourbon country and no liquor can be delivered anywhere around here. Never fear! A sister in Maryland will be accepting this delivery and getting it to us in august! Shipping is $9.99 on this website for any order under $100, so I'm counting this value as $40. Of course, I ordered a $90 12 bottle case, but that still meant 12 bottles for $50! Which is a bargain I'm super excited about! ;)

Altogether the box had a value of $50+. Plus provided two free meals to a kid in need. What's not to love about Love With Food??

Please use my referral link if you sign up and get your first box for only $2 with code FBGIFT. Spread the love!! :)
