Bulu Box August Review

Ugh... I cancelled Bulu last month but still got the August box. I can't find a charge for it yet, but I'm sure the drama is coming! LOL! I'm definitely kind of over this box but, since I've got it, I'll do a quick review just in case anyone is interested!

Bulu boxes are $10/month (or less with longer subscription) and contain 4-5 health, nutrition and weight loss samples to try. This box is the regular subscription. There is also a weight loss box available.

Here's first looks of the August box:

And a quick breakdown:

BioCell Collagen, $.67

Raw Protein, $1.50

New Body Nutrition Passiontone,  $1.25

Ache & Pain Relief To-Go, $1.25

Tranquility Kare sleep aid, $2.25

So I came up with a quick value of about $7 for this box. There's a point/reward system associated with Bulu that basically gives you $1 for each item you review, so reviewing this box gives you $5 to spend in the Bulu store. It definitely helps to offset the cost of the box and the fact that it rarely seems to be worth the $10 price. It just annoys me how small the samples tend to be, though. How can you tell how you feel about a product from ONE dose??

What do you think of Bulu? Are there people out there who are huge fans?? If you want to try it, please click through one of my referral links and try one of these codes to get your first box free: TWEET10 or FIRSTFREE or BOX6885 or DISCOVER.

KlutchClub Men's July Box Review

Don't forget to enter my August giveaway worth $110 while you're here!

Again with this weird shipping... this is the "July" box but I didn't even receive it until August 8th. It didn't even SHIP until 8/1, so it's not even trying to get here on time... *sigh* maybe I'm the only one bugged by this! LOL!

KlutchClub offers monthly subscription boxes geared towards men, women or moms for the price of $18/month/box (or a little less with longer commitment). The boxes include $50+ of healthy snacks, fitness programs, personal-care items, supplements, etc. We get the men's box because this is right up the hub's alley!

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown!

Wheatgrass seeds, $1.69/pouch. Oh goody, more stuff for hubby's garden! Haha!

PopChips Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips, $1

Puritan's Pride Raspberry Ketones, $1.50. It looks like MSRP on these might be more like $4.75 but a bottle of 60 is going for $3 on Amazon... and reviewed poorly. Yay. You can use code KLUTCHCLUB for free shipping on $25+ on puritan.com if these products are something you're into!

Nawgan Alertness Beverage, $2. Hubs drank this same day. Never too alert! ;)

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil, $2. Wtf is this? LOL

Towel Dry Creme Styler, $2

Flavrz Drink Mix, $1.50

Wow. So the value of the goods in this box was only $15.07... Yikes.

There were also a couple of discount cards. One for a free Light Band at Rubberbanditz.com ($7 value, have to pay $3 shipping, so actually $4 value). A second card offered $25 off a pair of sunglasses at wavesgear.com. This also requires paying shipping ($4.50) so the actual value is $20.50. I personally don't like to include in the value of a box things that you have to spend money to redeem but even counting these didn't save this box. Even with the additional $24.50 "value" of offers, the box is still worth less than $40, not $50+ as promised.

What did you think of KlutchClub this month? I saw other boxes that were packed full of stuff, including half a dozen Flavrz packets. Is this just my crappy streak of box luck continuing?? LOL

If you are interested in trying KlutchClub, please use my referral link (here and above). Thank you! You can use code ZZSIDEWALKSALE to get one of the Best Of boxes for only $1 (plus $8 shipping). Be sure to cancel after buying a best of box if you don't want to sign up for monthly service!

I wasn't over the top thrilled with the June box either. We were happy with May's box but it was still short of the $50+ value. I'm giving KlutchClub one more month and, if August doesn't wow me, probably moving on!

Bulu Box July Review

So, me and Bulu Box... it's just definitely not my thing. I signed up for a cheapy 3 month subscription, and hubs has enjoyed trying some new things, but I won't be renewing. I definitely prefer KlutchClub!

That being said, here's a quick summary of the July box. They also offer a "weight loss" box. Boxes are $10/month or less with longer subscription.

This month's box was curated by Emily Reynolds, a "professional bikini athlete." Um, WHAT? That's a JOB? hahahahaha

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown:

PowerBar performance blends, $1.50 each

Vivarin, $.50

Zellies mints, sample

Ripped Cream, $1 - hubs was excited about protein powder for coffee creamer! LOL

Acid Supplement, sample

There were also a couple of coupons and an offer for Daily Burn, an online workout site. You don't need any special code or anything to take advantage of the included offer, though. Go to dailyburn.com/bulu and you can sign up for a 30 day free trial of their online workouts and it says you get a $20 credit in their store for nutritional supplements (I can't find the store without being signed up?).

So the contents were worth about $5, half of what I paid for it. Doesn't make me happy. Especially since the high value item (from Daily Burn) was a code I could have easily found online as a non-subscriber.

So, what do you think of Bulu? I know much of the value is in the points you get for reviewing products, but I find the whole thing kind of annoying and am done with it for now! On to the next subscription box adventure! :)

KlutchClub Men's June Box Review

Be sure to enter my Blush Beauty June Box giveaway worth $100 while you're here!

It's so annoying to me that this is the "June" box and it arrived July 6th. The only info available on the website right now is for the JULY box, which I won't receive until the first week of August... I wish KlutchClub would straighten that out!

Anywho, KlutchClub offers monthly subscription boxes geared towards men, women or moms for the price of $18/month/box (or a little less with longer commitment). The boxes include $50+ of healthy snacks, fitness programs, personal-care items, supplements, etc. We get the men's box because this is right up the hub's alley!

Here's first looks:

And the breakdown!

Neo-Chill ($4.40) and Neo-Energy ($4.40). You've got one to wake up you and one to make you sleep... isn't this the way vicious drug addiction cycles begin?? Hahaha

YogaVibes.com three month subscription ($50, first 15 days free, then $20/month)

Coupon for $5 off Tea of a Kind

NYCmusic two free album downloads ($10?)

Gizmo Tea of a Kind ($2)

Locklaces no tie shoelace system ($8)

Beanfields Sea Salt Beans and Rice Chips ($3)

BlueprintBar ($3?) - can only find them available online through Fresh Direct?

Ola! Foods granola vanilla almond ($1) - noticed that this company donates ALL net proceeds to a foundation! Impressive!

So this box was a little weird for me.... The value is technically there, $85.80 (without the coupon), but most of that value ($60) is in the online yoga classes and what looks like meditation music. If those aren't something you are interested in, well.... it's pretty far off the $50 value promised. It's still mostly a hit for us, though, so I'll be sticking around!

If you are interested in trying KlutchClub, please use my referral link (here and above). Thank you! Try code JUNEBOX to see if it still works to save 20% off your entire subscription!

Website Review: Dancewear Solutions

Over the years I have bought LOTS of dance, cheer and gymnastics clothes, and that doesn't look to change in the near future! I find the options in local stores a little bit limited. You can go the ULTRA basic and inexpensive route and buy (boring) pieces from major chains like Wal-Mart, Target and Meijer. Don't get me wrong, my dancer thinks the Danskin Basics at Wal-Mart are super soft and comfy, but personally I get tired of looking at them! LOL!

The other main choice in Louisville and surrounding areas is Kinney Dancewear. They have super cute things, and a weak rewards program where you get a little certificate after you spend $250, but BOY are they expensive. Gymnastics leotards can easily run close to $50. It's a great place to pick up a "treat" piece every once in a while, but I try to avoid it most of the time because we can't seem to get out of there without spending $100+!

Last year I took a chance on online retailer Dancewear Solutions and have been really happy with it! The products have been the great quality and the prices are definitely more reasonable. And I love that it gives me an opportunity to buy my girls something to wear that nobody else has! SO much more to choose from!

We recently ordered a few things, including this leotard/dress for a voice recital performance:

So, so soft and pretty and she loves it! It was $35 before discount and is actually something she can wear over and over again for regular classes!

Here are a few of the other things we've bought recently:

It's all so cute! And neither of those are my kid, BTW. Haha!

If you spend $100, shipping is free. And coupon code DWSBB4 will save you 10% through the end of May!

What do you think?? Is there some magical land of dance and gymnastics clothes around Louisville that we've been missing out on??

Bulu Box May Review - Turrible

This box from Bulu... Omg. It's so ridiculous. I had a deal and paid $19 for three months and already feel hosed! I thought for a minute that this was just some bonus box in between the regular subscription boxes... Uh no. What a rip. I guess the good news is that it can pretty much only go up from here! LOL!

Here's first looks - box was itty bitty and LIGHT, should have been a bad sign apparently!

AllerDX seasonal allergy treatment ($1.10). Ok... My allergies are ferocious, so I'm all about anything that works. I cracked up that the testimonial quote on the package was from a man in kentucky! Here's the thing, though. The directions say to take 3-4 tablets at a time up to three times a day as needed. So as many as TWELVE tablets a day. Sounds like something I'm not even going to try to keep up with. And since the sample only has THREE tablets in it, not even enough for ONE maximum dose, I'm not going to mess up my regular schedule to try. So weak.

Beauty Bursts supplement chews ($.53). This pack had TWO chews. Was like most items in the box, marked "sample not for sale", so WHY did I PAY for this stuff? Argh. Fit n Crisp Vanilla Marshmallow bar ($1.62). Hubs ate this right up, said it tasted like a rice krispie treat with a scoop of protein powder in it. Definitely had more sugar than the supplement bars I usually buy for him. But, you know, at least it was a full size item! And look at him! He's happy to have a snack!! Haha!

FitMixer Amino supplement ($1.00). Again, a TINY sample, this is meant to be a pre-workout energizer. I used it in my efforts to recover from jetlag, felt no effect. And Artisana Berry Antioxident Nut Butter ($1.75). Little bitty pack, would have been a skimpy sandwich with this! The hubs just ate it out of the package. Don't even care if he liked it! I'm so annoyed with this box at the point that I'm not buying any of this stuff! LOL!

There was information on Jay Cardiello's 40-day workout program and info to get the first workout free online. I went to the website to check, and this is free to ANYONE, so there is no value added to the box by this. Not a perk, just an advertisement. Ugh.

So this box normally costs $10 and I came up with a total value of $6.00. And even worse than the poor value is the fact that there wasn't enough of any product to really use it and get a feel for it - except for the vanilla bar, but I sure wouldn't have paid $10 for that! It would have been better to have received one full size pack of one item and that be it rather than little bits of 5 random things. Box grade: F. I've heard lots of people cancelled after this box. Hopefully next month they make up for it! If you want to take a chance on it and are optimistic like I am that it only goes up from here, sign up for Bulu Box Here. You can use code FIRSTFREE to get the first box free (it's worth the price of FREE! LOL)
